LAS VEGAS, Nev. – In a night destined for the record books, Terence “Bud” Crawford defeated Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez by unanimous decision at Allegiant Stadium, becoming the undisputed super-middleweight champion of the world. The scorecards read 116–112, 115–113, and 115–113, all for Crawford, who now holds undisputed titles in three different weight divisions.

Historic Context: Two Legends Enter the Ring

Canelo Álvarez: At 35, Álvarez entered the fight with multiple world titles across four weight classes. Known for his powerful body shots, defensive guard, and ability to carry power up in weight, Canelo was considered the established champion at super-middleweight.

Terence “Bud” Crawford: Undefeated before the fight (41–0, 31 KOs), Crawford had already been undisputed at both light welterweight and welterweight. His southpaw stance, elite footwork, and ability to adjust mid-fight made him one of the sport’s most dangerous fighters.

Highlight Moments from the Fight

  • Early Rounds: Canelo pressed the action, trying to impose his power with body shots and inside work.
  • Middle Rounds: Crawford’s counter-punching and movement began to take over, frustrating Álvarez.
  • Late Rounds: Crawford stayed sharp defensively, landing clean counters as Canelo tired, sealing the decision.
  • Decision: Judges scored it 116–112, 115–113, 115–113, making Crawford undisputed in a third division.

What’s Next for the Fighters

For Crawford, the win elevates him to all-time great status. He remains undefeated and is the first man to achieve undisputed status in three different weight classes. A rematch with Canelo or defenses against top super-middleweight contenders are likely next steps.

For Canelo, the loss is significant but not career-ending. With a legacy already cemented, he may pursue a rematch, drop weight, or take high-profile non-title fights. His drawing power ensures he remains a central figure in boxing’s future.

In what may be remembered as one of the most historic nights in modern boxing, Terence Crawford did more than just defeat Canelo Álvarez — he rewrote history. The boxing world now turns its attention to what comes next for both men.
